About White Ribbon Alliance UK

White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) is a global advocacy movement for reproductive, maternal and new-born health and rights.

In the UK our work is also concerned with respectful maternity care and the rights of women and girls and their families in relation to their dignity, justice and equity.

Now is an exciting time to be joining WRA as we are active in several influential campaigns and programmes both in the UK and alongside our colleagues internationally.

ABOUT THE ROLE

WRA are seeking new trustees to support our important work. Our organisation is led by its board of trustees, who are responsible for the governance and strategic direction of WRA. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals, who are committed to our aims, with competence and interest in governance, campaigning and policy development, fundraising, finance or media and communications.

We are looking for trustees to fill the following vacancies::

  • Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer/Finance/Income
  • Media & digital  Lead
  • Legal (Charity Law/Compliance)
  • Policy (Safeguarding Lead, Data/GDPR)

We are looking for Trustees who have:

  • A commitment to reproductive, maternal and newborn health and rights
  • Strategic vision
  • An ability to think creatively
  • A willingness to speak their mind
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to take decisions for the good of WRA

COMMITMENT:

  • You will be expected to attend a minimum of 4 board meetings per year
  • You will be expected to attend in person board development sessions
  • You will be expected to support WRA to achieve its charitable aims
  • You will be expected to support the growth and development of WRA by bringing your expertise to the board of trustees
  • This role is unremunerated but reasonable out of pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed.
