Chair (Designate)
wessex childrens hospice trust (naomi house)

Job Description

Chair (Designate)

Naomi House & Jacksplace provides palliative and respite care for children, young adults and their families from seven counties across the south of England. With two purpose built hospices situated in the Hampshire countryside, our promise is to deliver individualised care at a time when families need us most. Our ambition is high, our standards are first rate and our colleagues and volunteers are committed to maintaining both.

After a long association with the Trust, our current Chair is nearing the end of her tenure and will be in her last term of office. We are therefore seeking an individual with the vision, drive and presence to lead our strong and well established Board of Trustees at this challenging time for the voluntary sector.

The role

Working with our experienced Chief Executive to steer the direction and strategy of the Trust, you will also act as our spokesperson, raising our profile across a range of audiences. If you have experience as a Trustee or Vice Chair, and have strong commercial awareness, this will be a highly rewarding role – and an opportunity to make a real difference to our future. Outstanding networking and relationship-building skills are important too, and experience in the third sector, and preferably within the hospice sector or children’s services, would be ideal.

Closing date

19 April 2021

We would like to be in a position for the successful candidate to join the Board in June, as Chair Designate to work alongside our existing Chair to ensure a smooth transition until her departure.
