Job Description

Disability Arts organisation Together! 2012 CIC is seeking a new part-time Youth Development Worker now that our current worker is taking up a funded PhD place. The post is based in Newham, East London, but worked from home until at least spring 2022.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience working with young people in a relevant field, and be a practitioner of at least two art forms at a professional or unpaid level. Also essential is:

  • Familiarity with a range of social media platforms and confidence working online.
  • Excellent team-working and communication skills and a commitment to collaborative working.
  • Reliability, integrity, patience and honesty.
  • A strong commitment to equality and inclusion and a clear understanding of intersectional issues.
  • A clear understanding of the Social Model of Disability and how this impacts on the delivery of the work, including relationships with team members, volunteers and participants.
  • All shortlisted candidates will need to provide an enhanced DBS check (which we will fund if necessary).

Desirable is:

  • Lived experience of disability.
  • Fluency in a language other than English.
  • Relevant training and qualifications in youth work.
  • Prior knowledge of/participation in Disability Arts.
  • Prior experience in the voluntary sector.
