Communications Manager
the3million

Job Description

Do you feel passionate about EU citizens' rights in the UK? Do you have a strong track record in impactful communications based on lived experience (preferably in the charity sector)? Are you looking for a fulfilling job to make a difference to people's lives?

Please apply if you have answered an unreserved yes to all three questions above.

Introduction:

the3million is the largest grassroots organisation for EU citizens in the UK, formed after the 2016 EU referendum to protect the rights of people who have made the UK their home when the country was a member state of the European Union. More information about the3million here.

We are looking for an experienced Communications Manager to work in conjunction with the CEO, the Policy and Advocacy team and the co-managers of Young Europeans Network (the3million’s youth team) to give a voice to EU citizens in the UK on multiple platforms.

This is a high-profile job at the cutting edge of British and European politics in a post-Withdrawal Agreement environment.

This position is a full-time 6-month contract, with a potential to be extended depending on performances and funding. We would consider a job-share with the right candidates, if you couldn't commit to a full-time job.

The role is funded by Barrow Cadbury, the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

Please note that we will not consider your application unless it comes with a covering letter. Applicants must be UK based and some travel to the office in Bristol will be required, but you will be able to work remotely most days.

Job description:

Your job is to manage and deliver the3million’s communications strategy, in conjunction with the CEO, the Policy and Advocacy team and the co-managers of the Young Europeans Network.

You will be responsible for maintaining the3million’s high profile media presence, leveraging our lived experience to build impactful social media campaigns, engaging our core supporters with meaningful newsletters and building solid relationships with key communications allies, all these elements supporting the3million policy and advocacy arguments for social justice for EU citizens.

You will also work to promote a positive narrative on EU citizens and gather public support for our campaigns, through the promotion of lived experience stories, and with the support of the3million spokespeople network that you will manage.
