Bereavement Support Volunteer
the loss foundation

Job Description

We are looking for new Bereavement Support Volunteers to join our Team (National)

The Loss Foundation is a registered charity specialising in providing bereavement support for people whose loved ones die of cancer. In response to the pandemic, the charity now also supports people who lose a loved one to coronavirus. Support groups and therapy events are currently running online, and in-person support will begin again when it is safe to do so.

We recently put out a post inviting people to join our cause in running our grief support services. We are delighted to have received a number of applications, however, we are looking to take on even more people as we scale up our services nationally.

We welcome further applications from compassionate, reliable and conscientious volunteers with excellent communications skills and an interest in helping others.

The charity is run by volunteer clinical psychologists and doctors (qualified and in training), as well as those from other professions. We have an incredibly brilliant team, all passionate about offering the best possible care to an often-ignored population.

Volunteer roles involve co-facilitating bereavement support groups and events for people whose loved ones have died from cancer or Covid-19. The successful candidates will have excellent organisational skills, flexibility, and enthusiasm for learning more about bereavement support.

Training is provided in line with the Department of Health’s Standard of Care for Bereavement Support. Volunteers will also receive scheduled supervision from Clinical Psychologists, and have the opportunity to contribute to research. The charity offers excellent training and CPD opportunities for people who are keen to pursue careers in psychology. However, we very much welcome applications from people with diverse skills and interests outside of the world of psychology too. We are much more interested in you rather than what you do. If you are genuinely interested in helping others, we would love to hear from you.

We ask for at least an 1 year+ commitment, which involves facilitating at least twice a month.

You can see a list of our current team and find out more about the charity on our website.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
