Sports Volunteers
The Elfrida Society

Job Description

Are you enthusiastic about sport? We are looking for volunteers to join our team to help run the sports groups.

Our Sports activities have been put on hold due to Covid-19. We are working with our partners and funders to ensure when we reopen, our activities are safe for everyone.

When we reopen we need the help of a passionate volunteer who wants to support our service users in getting active and involved in sports. The aim of this is to improve wellbeing and empower people that use the services to take part in group activities and connect with others.  Please bear in mind that due to the social distancing measures currently in place there will be a delay in the sessions beginning.

The Sports Project provides sports and physical activities for people with learning disabilities to improve their health and wellbeing. Sport helps to increase confidence and life skills, broaden social networks and create opportunities in the wider community. Our goal is for individuals to develop leadership skills and for groups to become self-sustaining.

We are looking for a couple of volunteers to support the group on a Tuesday and/or Friday afternoon, and we also have activities on Sundays if you are interested.

Applicants must be:

  • Over 16 years of age
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Good at communicating and listening
  • Able to volunteer for 2 - 4 hours on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

Please note we will need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for all successful applicants.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
