Job Description

Canaan Project is a youth work project working collaboratively with marginalised girls and young women in Tower Hamlets to see them flourish, have broadened horizons and raised aspirations. We do this by providing experiences and opportunities through innovative approaches to youth work.
 

Job Summary 

Responsible for maintaining the general financial functions of the Canaan Project including invoicing and payments, database entry and reporting, monitoring tracking and reporting, as well as undertaking administrative tasks where appropriate.


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • To manage the day to day finance functions of the charity including paying salaries, invoices and staff expense claims, reconciliation and tracking all income and expenditure using Sage Accounting Software

  • To monitor the bank balances for all income and expenditure, checking regularly for anomalies 

  • To meet regularly with the Project Manager to discuss the budget, fundraising and preparation for Quarterly Financial Review meetings with the Canaan Project Treasurer and Chair

  • Producing financial reports in liaison with the Project Manager, Canaan Project Treasurer and Accountant when necessary – including Year End documentation for the annual return to the Charities Commission and preparation for Quarterly Financial Review meetings

  • To assist the Project Manager in fundraising by preparing reports for funders or draft budgets for applications

  • To support the day to day running of the Canaan Project office space, including keeping it tidy, well organised and as efficient and effective space as possible

  • To implement an effective filing system for the office and undertake appropriate administrative tasks as requested by the Project Manager

  • Maintaining quality relationships with suppliers, partners, funders and potential funders and generally promoting a good image of the Canaan Project

  • To comply with all relevant Canaan Project policies and procedures in exercising the duties of the role including confidentiality, equal opportunities and GDPR. 

  • Undertake any necessary skills training, Professional Updates and Statutory/mandatory Training as appropriate to the post and as directed by the Project Manager.
