Job Description
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
To support the Deputy Director for Estates and Facilities in all aspects of Health and Safety in accordance with the Branch Constitution, the Vision, Mission and Values and Policies and Procedures of Samaritans and resolutions of the Board of Trustees.
POSITION AND SUPPORT IN ORGANISATION
Accountable to: Deputy Director Estates and Facilities
Liaises with: Branch Director, Deputy Directors, Branch Trustees
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To annually compile/update H&S statement to display in centre
- To carry out annual review (using checklist supplied by central charity)
- Keep this checklist updated with due dates for inspections, certificates etc.
- Create and maintain an induction procedure for new volunteers regarding fire safety (extinguisher types and locations, exits etc) and first aid (who to contact, location of kits etc).
- Keep an up-to-date action plan of things to complete (using checklist supplied by Samaritans Central Office), keep action plan up to date and make available for volunteers to access.
QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE
Previous experience of working in a Health and Safety role is essential.
LOCATION, TRAVEL & EXPENSES
While we recommend that you work virtually where possible, due to the nature of the role you will need to visit the branch and our shop regularly. Both our branch and shop are based in Wellington, Telford, so you will need to be local to the Telford / Shropshire area.
