HORTICULTURALIST (Mayfield Nurseries)

Hours: 30 Hours Per Week (spread across 7 days)

Salary Range: £19,201 to £20,680 Pro Rata Per Annum

Location: Southampton

Mayfield Nurseries is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Solent Mind and charitable social enterprise, supporting people with enduring mental health problems and dementia.  Our overarching aim is to create positive change for people living with these conditions by enabling them to take the steps to improve their health and wellbeing. This is achieved through the provision of horticultural therapy, vocational training, and wellbeing and peer services.

The purpose of this post is to contribute to the day to day provision of horticultural services.

Mayfield Nurseries specialises in the sale of high quality plants and related consumables, a small growing programme for stock with the rest traded from our established wholesale network and with all profits going towards the services we offer for people with mental health issues and dementia.

The Horticulturalist will be an integral member of the horticultural team, reporting to the horticultural manager in the day to day running of the horticultural programme and the nurseries good working practices. They will attend to customer enquiries, work with stock to keep it at an excellent level of health and presentation, work with service users on vocational experience and mentorship and deputise for the horticultural manager when absent.
