Operations and Finance Lead
sibling arts c.i.c.

Job Description

Join our snowballing arts advocacy organisation at this exciting time to amplify marginalised voices in the arts and build bridges across communities, sectors and countries. Following 5 years of award-winning shows, workshops, installations and talks Sibling Arts welcomes you to join us as we step up to the next stage of our mission.

Contract: 8 months freelance contract initially, from September to April 2022 with a view to transition to part-time employment from May 2022 onwards, pending funding. NB within our organisation the Operations and Finance Lead role is known as Producer.

About us:

Sibling Arts C.I.C. has run stage shows, street and interactive theatre since 2014, specialising in amplifying marginalised voices and building bridges across art forms and communities. Our award-winning flagship project Sex Worker’s Opera (info: sexworkersopera [dot] com) is written by our multiply-marginalised members and been performed in 9 countries to 15,000 people, selling 97% of tickets over 5 years to standing ovations every night.

Our show excerpts, gallery installations and global stories collection have toured/been published across continents and our bridge-building workshops have trained Royal Opera House, Amnesty International, the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security, Cambridge University and so many others.

Our team and ethos:

We are a small, low-cost team, 2 years into our first ever core funding having also received CRF to weather the pandemic. We are looking to build capacity and resilience while expanding our current offerings and newly exploring the world of film.

Our directors and members are working mothers, sex workers, LGBTQ+, variously trans and non-binary, from 11 countries, living with complex disabilities and in diverse lifestyles.

We are not a typical charity or 'saviour' organisation. We see empowerment as the opportunity to reclaim space in the arts where previously excluded. We do not see empowerment as changing anyone's lives, jobs, lifestyles or survival mechanisms under capitalism in any way.

Your role:

As Producer you will help maintain the organisation day-to-day, produce and expand our programmes, coordinate logistics for our big one-off projects, interface with our members and administer our finances. As our first year-round hire beyond the two co-directors we're looking for someone who can grow this role with us.

We have a track record of humble beginnings, aiming high and reaching even higher so are looking for someone to jump in wholeheartedly at this important juncture, to take us from strength to strength.

You will have experience interfacing with marginalised, vulnerable communities or will be willing to learn about our complex and underrepresented members and progressive ways to articulate their needs.

For full details including specific roles/responsibilities, skills you bring to the table, experience and personal qualities please see the attached job description.

Note these responsibilities will not be taken on all at once on just 2.5 days a week. We have a clear and realistic series of production jobs for the initial 8 month contract with a view for you to take on the roles below gradually as our operations expand and you become more established in the organisation.

Early applications are encouraged as they will be reviewed on a rolling basis as received and therefore the post may be filled before the published closing date.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
