Job Description

Could you make a difference to a well established charity? Respect for All (RfA) is a well-established and well-regarded charity providing counselling services for autistic people and people with a learning disability in the Greater Manchester area.

The charity was established in 2009 and provides counselling to over 200 people annually. We are becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

We are now seeking three new Trustees for the CIO, to help us to grow the work of our charity across Greater Manchester

About the Role

We seek Trustees who will add capacity and expertise to our team.  Trustees who will want to support the mental well-being of learning-disabled people and autistic people, their families and carers through quality services, effective governance and delivering on the organisation’s strategic goals.

We are looking for people with passion and enthusiasm for person-centred services, an open and caring culture and respect for clients and our counsellors who work well as part of a committed team. We’ll need you to sit on at least one relevant sub-committee and lead on a specific area such as marketing, IT, community or staff engagement or clinical governance.

About You

At this time, RfA are particularly seeking applications from those with experience of:

  • health and social care commissioning and contracting and funding flows, ideally in a mental health field
  • information governance
  • charity governance
  • VCSE leadership ideally in the health and social care sector
  • Understanding of autistic spectrum conditions and learning disability are particularly helpful

Time Commitment

The Trustee Board meet monthly for about 2 hours. Currently we are meeting via video conference.

Trustees are also asked to attend at least four practitioner’s meeting per year and to contribute to additional ad hoc meetings to provide for specific needs as they arise. An example would be helping with interviewing new staff.

Application & Contact

We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse board of trustees, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community to help us achieve a diverse trustee board that reflects our clients and communities.

We also welcome informal discussion.

Applications are welcome by CV and covering letter, setting out your motivation for becoming a Trustee and how your skills would support RfA.

The closing date is 30 November 2020, however we expect to be interviewing candidates on a rolling programme as we are keen to bring in new Trustees for the CIO from October 2020.

Please contact Judy Turner (Chair) for informal discussion.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
