Job Description

Help us protect older people’s rights – become a trustee of R&RA

We’re a small charity, punching above its weight - can you help us increase our reach and impact?

The Relatives & Residents Association (R&RA) champions the rights of older people needing care in England. We provide advice, support and information to empower older people, their families and friends via our helpline, and we campaign to protect their rights and improve the quality of care services.

Our services have never been in such demand. The pandemic, and measures to manage it, have had a significant impact on older people needing care. Isolated in care homes, older people have rapidly declined in mental and physical health. Many relatives are turning to us in despair. Our voice has been loudly heard in the media and Parliament, telling their stories and campaigning for their rights. Our dedicated staff team and our Chair, Judy Downey, have been tireless in their support for the voiceless.

Radical change is needed in social care. To influence the debate, we now need to recruit new Trustees to enlarge and strengthen our Board, increase our diversity and broaden our skills.

Do you have skills and experience in clinical care, social care law, communications or experience as a relative or user of adult care services?

An informal discussion with our chair or one of our current trustees is available on request. Further information about the organisation, our mission and work is available on our website. Details of how to apply are in the role description.

Closing date: 9am, 12 April

Interview date (via video conference): from 3 May (date and time to be confirmed)

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
