Trustees
plumstead almshouses

Job Description

We are looking for thoughtful, committed people to join our Board of Trustees.

In return for a small amount of your time, you have the reward of knowing you are helping to take this useful charity into the next 100 years!

The Plumstead Almshouses are twenty cottages dating from 1896 on the borders of Plumstead Common.  Like many almshouses, they are built around an internal courtyard that serves as a shared space for residents.  It is designed for those of us over 55 years - although many residents are older - and for people with connections to Plumstead (though work, school or family).

It is a thriving community, with strong finances and a stable, committed team of Trustees. We are looking for more sincere, intelligent people to oversee the charity.  You will be particularly welcome if you have skills in any of the areas that we find useful:

*social care or advocacy

*property management, surveying, or building

*charity governance or law

*marketing or website maintenance

Terms of appointment for satisfactory applicants are three years, and it is much preferred that you are able to serve for at least this amount of time.

The charity employs an administrator, so no official work is required outside meetings.  However, other Trustees occasionally help with negotiations with neighbours, or selecting new Beneficiaries, or attending outside meetings and so forth.  Your input would be most welcome!

Age and background is not important.  It is fine if this would be your first Trustee role, as training can be provided.  We would be especially pleased to find candidates are familiar with the local area (Plumstead, Woolwich, Greenwich borough) and its various communities.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
