Treasurer
peace direct

Job Description

Peace Direct is looking for an experienced chartered accountant to join the Board as Treasurer. This is a very exciting time for Peace Direct, as we have been growing at a fast pace over the last few years (with income growing fourfold in as many years, to almost £4m in 2019) and we have a big ambition to scale up our work in the coming years. This will require a detailed understand of managing financial risk, scrutinising budgets and financial strategies developed by Peace Direct's CEO and Head of Finance, monitoring and reporting on the financial health of the organisation and ensuring that the necessary financial procedures and controls are in place as we evolve into a larger and more complex organisation.

Peace Direct is an international NGO that supports local peacebuilding in conflict zones worldwide. We work with local organisations in twelve countries around the world and aim to support many more in the years to come. We have no country offices, employ no expatriate staff overseas and do not intend to do so, as we believe that this displaces local people's efforts. All staff and Board members see this as our strength and are expected to be advocates for our approach of supporting locally led peacebuilding, amplifying the voices of local people and changing the system in favour of local action.

Applications for the Treasurer position will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please see the attached role description for further information. Please send a CV and a cover letter explaining why you would like to join the board of Peace Direct as Treasurer and what skills and experience you would bring to this role.
