Job Description
Can you help us on our journey? We are looking for Trustees to join our Board who can help to take us to the next stage in our development, building on recent contract wins and the achievement of TrustedCharity status.
Newham New Deal Partnership is a local charity delivering frontline services to vulnerable and hard to reach groups, particularly older people, and heritage, place making and arts projects in East London which inspire communities, enrich society and stimulate people tofulfil their potential.
We aim to punch above our weight in making an impact for local communities, volunteers and residents.
About the role
We particularly encourage applications from individuals with interest and expertise in the following areas:
· Health and social care
· Digital communications and IT
· Volunteering
· Change management
· Fundraising and funding
· Diversity
Ideally, Trustees should live or work in Newham, Tower Hamlets, or Hackney or have strong connections with these boroughs. Skills and experience identified by the Board as particularly valuable include:
· Appreciation of the challenges facing people who are isolated and in poverty, particularly older people
· Understanding the challenges and opportunities in social care
· Experience in digital technology for business or service improvement
· Experience of volunteering and volunteer management
We are particularly keen to ensure that our trustees are fully representative of the communities in which we work, and we warmly welcome applications from those from ethnic minority backgrounds and people with disabilities. The Board meets four to five times a yea in the evening. There is also an annual ‘Awayday’ for Board members, which is normally on a Saturday. Informal meetings and/or attendance at charity events in line with individual Trustees’ area of interest is also expected. All new appointees are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
