Job Description

The role will sit in the Counseling team and provide assessment, counselling and project related services for this high quality, welll established local mental health charity. Key tasks include:

  •  Undertake counselling with clients on a one-to-one basis at Mind’s premises - short-term focussed counselling.
  •  As part of the counselling team undertake assessments. (Some assessments are done by a trained volunteer, others are done by the two part-time counsellors). In first consultation with clients, assess the nature of the client’s issues and decide, in conjunction with the client, the most appropriate way to progress, whether further sessions are required; whether referral to another agency such as alcohol counselling is required; whether referral to other Mind services is appropriate.
  • Assist with related projects commissioned by internal or external stakeholders
  • Accept clinical supervision on a regular basis with an external supervisor as a requirement of the British Association for Counselling (BACP) Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. Also to accept management supervision internally from the Counselling Manager.
  •  Undertake telephone counselling by answering ad hoc calls and providing information and support
  •  Undertake crisis interventions, arranging appointments and undertaking assessments and counselling as necessary
  •  Undertake administrative tasks required for the effective operation of  the service including record taking and statistics
  •  Assist with groups - this might include convening and running a group eg an anger management group or an anxiety group
  • To be part of the interview panel for volunteer counsellors

Applicants MUST be BACP or UKCP Accredited

Salary for £21,279 for 27 hrs per week, 4 days per week
