Could you be LRSN’s Head of Charity?

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Head of Charity to lead our dedicated team of volunteers and staff.

After 14 very successful years, our outgoing Project Manager leaves a thriving organisation in great shape and ready to begin the next exciting stage of our ambitious journey. Will you be our next visionary and ambitious leader who can steer us forward, identifying and seizing new opportunities to extend our reach and impact even further and adapt and flex in a rapidly changing eternal environment?

Who are we?

For 20 years Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN) has been here for Lincolnshire's farming and rural folk and in 2021 the need for our services, expertise and impact has never been greater. We are a county organisation, known throughout Lincolnshire and beyond, as a highly impactful, volunteer-led charity and we would not be where we are without the passion, determination and expertise of our people who strive to create a world where everyone who seeks our help is treated with care, compassion and respect.

LRSN is a well-established charity that provides support, help and advice to members of Lincolnshire's farming and rural communities in times of crisis, stress and change. Volunteers are always at the heart of our service, demonstrating a community investing in itself and its future. Our activities include a helpline, one-to-one farm visits, drop-in advice sessions and health screening (Covid-19 restrictions permitting). Last year, over 160 farming and rural families asked for help and support with a variety of issues from anxiety, stress and relationship problems, through to alcoholism, depression and self-harm, and debt, financial and other farm business and personal issues.

Who will be our Head of Charity?

The Head of Charity will be a hands-on, practical and flexible leader of our staff and volunteer team. With a wide range of skills including excellent communication, influencing and organisational skills; you will be a people person, able to build excellent relationships with our small staff team, our volunteers, in particular our Chair of Trustees, but also with our stakeholders, partners and funders, fellow charities, relevant industry organisations and other key public and private sector bodies.

You will have the ability to think strategically, have an understanding of the voluntary and community sector and the key issues facing our farming and rural communities. To ensure the continued growth in income and long-term financial sustainability, you will research and implement diversified income streams, maximising existing income and focus on efficient and effective business processes. You will enable and support LRSN's development, working with the Chair and Board of Trustees to develop operational plans and budgets, which deliver the charity's vision, mission and strategy.

Getting the right person for this critical leadership role is paramount for success and we recognise that the nature of the individual may be as varied as someone who has already had a similar significant career experience, or someone stepping up to their first Head of Charity post and many combinations in between.
