Job Description

Independent Advocacy is looking for a new Chair

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and committed individual to become our new Chair.  We need someone who is passionate about “empowering vulnerable people to lead fulfilling lives through innovation” and can bring knowledge and experience to the role.

We are committed to co-production and working with service users in evaluating and designing our services and are also seeking to increase community involvement in our work through further development of our existing volunteer base.

You will need to be over 18 and be able to evidence Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. You cannot have been previously disqualified as a trustee or company director, be an undischarged bankrupt or have certain unspent criminal convictions. Ideally, the new Chair will be embedded in the local community and can help us make new connections and build new partnerships. We are hoping to find someone who understands the difference support and compassion can make when people are in difficulty. We are also looking for someone who can inspire people to support us and our work.

We are looking for a Chair who shares our values, is committed to empowering people, committed to equality and diversity and who can support our CEO to achieve our vision. The Chair will be an individual who is excited by the opportunities and can make sure that we fully exploit them. 

The successful applicant will have the full support of a strong and enthusiastic Board of Trustees and a team of resourceful staff.

The role is mainly working from home with ocassional office visits.
