Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides: leadership and day-to-day operational management; organisational strategic development; builds relationships with key organisatins and delivers accountability to funders. The CEO leads HAD in all operational activity, whilst supporting HAD’s Board of Trustees in all strategic areas, to ensure that HAD’s aims and mission are accomplished.

Main responsibilities

  1. To provide overall leadership, management and forward planning for the organisation and make sure it operates in line with the principles of the Social Model of Disability.

  2. To ensure that HAD is perceived as a leader in disability equality, with all activity con- ducted with integrity and in line with good equality practice.

  3. To employ and manage staff with appropriate skills to enable the charity to develop, meet and represent the needs of Disabled people.

  4. To implement and update appropriate policies and procedures relating to human re- sources, health and safety, equal opportunities, financial management and any other related matters.

  5. To actively ensure that HAD remains financially sustainable.

  6. To monitor the charity’s performance and provide the Board and funders with regular reports and information to enable effective decision making and planning.

  7. To ensure that HAD’s operational activity is maintained to a high standard, with all HAD’s current services provide excellent outcomes for clients, and are delivered to high standards.

  8. To develop the strategic direction of the charity with the aim of enabling it to exist independently of grant funding by increasing its income from trading activities.

  9. To maintain and extend the excellent partnership work for HAD locally, regionally, and where appropriate, nationally.

  10. To ensure HAD’s compliance with all relevant quality marks, service standards and other legal or good practice requirements.

  11. To ensure that all day to day operations are maintained to a high standard.

  12. To enable HAD (members, staff, Trustees, volunteers and other stakeholders) to re- view, own and work towards agreed goals.

  13. Work with the Chair to make sure the organisation trades legally and meets all of its statutory obligations.

  14. To lead by example in terms of good work ethics, such as reliability, timekeeping, hon- esty etc.
