Job Description

The Charity

Equal People mencap (Registered Charity No 298609) provides person-centred support to vulnerable adults and children across West and Central London, particularly those with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. We work across Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and other local boroughs.

Our 60 staff and volunteers provide a Floating Support service offering 1:1 independent living, community and personal care support funded through personal budgets. Our Resource Centre in Ladbroke Grove hosts a daily Drop-In and a weekly programme of supported activities and training programmes. We act as managing agents for 3 Housing Associations, providing Housing support and collecting rent.

The Role

You will be part of the Floating Support team offering person-centred support to adults and children , supporting them to put their choices ionto action,

Key responsibilities include:
To provide respectful, person-centred support to adults and children with, autism, learning disabilities, complex needs and/or experiencing mental health issues.
To represent and promote Equal People mencap’s inclusive ethos and values in all of your work and interactions with others.
To work to support individuals towards their desired outcomes as part of a team guided by shared, agreed support plans and risk assessments.
To enable each individual to participate as fully as they wish in community life
To support individuals to:
• communicate, plan and action their wishes, aims and dreams
• build and maintain friendships and relationships
• be treated with dignity and respect
• increase self-confidence and independence
• participate in and contribute to the community in a valued and meaningful way
• have access to health and social care services and activities and healthy living options
• be aware of risk and consequence
• be safe from abuse.
