Job Description

An exciting opportunity has risen to volunteer with a faith based charity in the capacity of Treasurer. Disciples Fellowship Ministries UK is an established charity that has a social and spiritual responsibility to impact the community. Role is largely completed remotely however need might arise to travel in which case expenses will be paid.

The treasurer takes the lead at board level on:

• Making sure the charity (all assemblies) keep proper accounts
• Reviewing the charity’s financial performance
• Ensuring that proper budgetary controls are put in place and adhered to
• Drawing up or reviewing policies for finance and investment
• Ensuring that the charity has robust and effective financial controls in place
• Develop reserves policy and safeguard the organisation’s finances
• Liaising with finance staff and with the charity’s independent examiner or auditor
• Reporting on financial matters to the members, in a membership charity
• Looking after the restricted Building fund & making sure that it is not used for anything else
• Company house & Charity Commision filing 
• Business Operations setup

Treasurer person specification (in addition to those of trustee)

• Some experience of charity finance,
• Since we are a Church, we are looking for somebody with an appreciation of the spiritual nature and authority vital for the effective fulfilment of the treasurers duties & responsibilities
• Ability to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences
• Preparedness to make unpopular recommendations to the board
• Should be available to trustees and staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis
• Accountancy qualification (desirable)
