About Community Opportunity and Made in Bermondsey
We are a Southwark based charity looking to increase employment for those needing to work from home, particularly people who need to shield due to coronavirus and their families. We are led by people with Black, Asian or ethnic minority backgrounds, people with disabilities and carers, so we know what works to get more people like us into employment.

We have been a partner in the Made in Bermondsey £2m regeneration programme funded by the Mayor of London, in partnership with Southwark Council, Blue Bermondsey Business Improvement District and Big Local Works. The lead architects are Hayatsu and Assemble, who developed the Made in Bermondsey concept. As part of the programme we helped create ongoing legacy projects which celebrate the Made in Bermondsey theme and continue to benefit the community for the long term, including the makerspace project.

We have been awarded an initial 6 months’ coronavirus emergency response funding by Power to Change, City Bridge Trust and The National Lottery Community Fund. This is for our makerspace project to help more local people at risk of coronavirus to secure home based employment.

We are proud to say that we are a diverse workforce and we embrace diversity. Community Opportunity are proud to have a mixture of people on our team and across the decision-making board. We are led by people with disabilities and from a range of diverse ethnic groups. We do not discriminate against abilities, age, sexual orientation, gender identities, national origins, religious beliefs.
