Job Description

UK charity Children’s Liver Disease Foundation takes action against the effects of childhood liver disease, providing information, emotional support, research funds and a voice for all affected.

CLDF is looking for an experienced practitioner to join our Support Team as a Support Officer, based at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital to provide an innovative and unique support service to families on the liver ward and those attending outpatient liver clinics.

The CLDF BWC Support Officer will meet families, children and young people within the hospital setting, introducing themselves and CLDF to families and providing information and support to start the development of their relationship with CLDF or build upon existing relationships.

The CLDF BWC Support Officer will provide support to families, working with them within the hospital setting to cope with chronic illness while liaising with CLDF’s Children and Families Officer and Young Person’s Officer to ensure the provision of ongoing support. They will form part of the multi-disciplinary liver team within Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital and ensure that all families of a child with liver disease benefit from the support and information that CLDF provide.

Occasional weekend working away from home supporting the events programme and some travelling nationwide will be required.

This a permanent, part-time 2.5 days (17.5 hours) per week post.
