Job Description

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to manage our internal committees and meetings, the diary of the Chief Executive and support the development and co-ordinate our external facing events programme.

Working in a small team, the role provides an opportunity to have huge impact on the BPC and its effectiveness as an organisation. You will be responsible for the success of our engagement with our most important stakeholders. The role will be varied and will offer a wealth of experience for the right candidate

Line managed by the Head of Operations you will be providing administrative support to our Board, Council and other internal meetings ensuring that all meetings are delivered effectively. You will also provide administrative support to the Chief Executive by looking after their diary, making sure they are well briefed and are kept on track for delivery.

You will co-ordinate our external facing events programme, for people working in the wider psychotherapy profession, by liaising with venues and suppliers, developing content, marketing, and providing this highest level of customer service. We do not have a large external facing events programme however we have ambition to grow and we see this role being pivotal in that growth.

The BPC is highly regarded in the psychotherapy field, having a tradition of excellence and intellectual rigour. You will be joining at an exciting time in the organisation’s development, as we rebrand and grow our team. We need an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to support us in maintaining and furthering our aims.

A salary of £26,000 to £28,000 (dependant on experience) per annum is offered, with 28 days holiday, plus statutory holidays and 6% employer pension contribution. London based.

The role is offered on a full-time basis, 35 hours a week, over five days. Some of our meetings are in the evening, and events may occasionally run on a weekend so therefore we are looking for someone able and willing to work flexibly – time off in lieu is always given and the office operates flexible working practices throughout the normal working week. 

The post is London based although some occasional travel (to visit our member institutions or attend a meeting, conference or hearing) may be required.  BPC is following current Government guidance and the successful post holder will be required to work from home until the office reopens.
