Job Description

Vision 2026 is an agenda for growth and change agreed by the Blackburn Diocesan Synod in 2015. It challenges our parishes to be healthy churches which can transform the communities in which they are set. It also lays out four ways in which this over-arching goal can be achieved: Making Disciples, Being Witnesses, Growing Leaders and Inspiring Children and Young People for Jesus Christ.

Two central aspirations under Vision 2026 are to see 10 new Strategic Church Plants by 2026 and to see a step change in ministry with those aged 11 - 16. Resourcing Churches are key to realising these aspirations and in early 2021 we were successful in our application for £3.5 million Strategic Development Funding from the Church Commissioners to part-fund new Resourcing Churches in Blackpool and Blackburn. The project to establish and develop these two new Resourcing Churches is titled ‘Lighting Up New Generations’ and runs from July 2021 to June 2026.

The Project Manager will manage this new project as well as playing an important role in the wider delivery of Vision 2026 through analysing and reporting on statistics and data, communicating stories relating to Vision 2026, monitoring the realisation of aspirations under the Vision 2026 Implementation Plan (2021 – 2024), and working with the Director of Vision Delivery to encourage and enable the network of volunteer Vision Champions.

We are looking for someone who is excited about the vision of seeing Healthy Churches Transforming Communities across Lancashire with a real passion for the role that Resourcing Churches can play in delivering the Vision. They will need excellent written and verbal communication skills as the role will involve regular communication and interaction with ordained and lay colleagues across the diocese and national church. Strong project management skills and experience with the ability to analyse complex datasets and produce strategically useful reports are also essential.

For an informal conversation about the role please contact: Director of Vision Delivery, Carolyn Barton, details available via the recruitment pack.

All interviews to take place at the Diocesan Offices, Clayton House, Blackburn, BB1 2QE
