Treasurer
beaver trust

Job Description

Beaver Trust is looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees to help us oversee the finances and governance of our small and high-impact charity with a mission to restore Britain’s rivers and wildlife with beavers.

We consider the beaver a totem for rapid and systemic change across rural and urban landscapes, reconnecting communities with the rest of the natural world that sustains them. We are a trusted intermediary, convenor and partner to government, communities and key stakeholder groups. Our programmes align stakeholders to inform policy change, provide practical restoration across whole river catchments and engage and empower people to participate in the future of their land and waterscapes.

Our Board of Trustees is the highest level governance and decision making authority within Beaver Trust. Trustees ensure that Beaver Trust has a clear strategy, and that its work and goals are in line with the charity’s vision. Trustees safeguard our assets and our reputation, making sure these are used well and that the charity is run sustainably.

The Treasurer will be a qualified accountant with demonstrated commercial awareness and knowledge of charity SORP and impending changes, ideally with knowledge and experience of charity fundraising practices.

Role Summary:

  • Monitor the financial standing of the charity and report to the Board regarding cash-flow forecasting, income streams, out-going expenses and the overarching strategic management of the organisation’s financial resources.

  • Oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health to the board of trustees at regular intervals.

  • Act as a counter signatory on cheques and applications to funders and ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators in a timely fashion.

  • Liaise with external auditors on financial issues and ensure that the charity’s finances are responsibly managed/invested for the betterment of the charity’s mission.

We are looking for experienced and engaging people who balance concern for the natural world and joy of working with like-minded people who are committed to helping communities build climate resilience and recover biodiversity.

Please send us your application cover letter and CV, telling us why you wish to join Beaver Trust and what you will bring to the board.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
