Be Free Young Carers is an award winning charity that seeks to improve the lives of young carers living in the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Districts. We are seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced leader.

Be Free Young Carers operates throughout South Oxfordshire, the Vale of White Horse Districts and will establish a presence in the Oxford City District in 2022 as a next step in its expansion plans. We offer support and advice dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of young carers.

We are the only specialist charity supporting young carers in Oxfordshire and provide advice, guidance, offer befriending and peer support, enabling young carers to meet, socialise and have fun, increasing their self-confidence and improving their mental well-being.

In the post pandemic period, like many charities in Oxfordshire, we have seen an increase in demand. It is also clear that a significant unmet need to support young carers exists. We have a strategy to expand the geographical remit of young carers we can support in the County. Our strategy will result in young carers across Oxfordshire receiving vital support they urgently need.

Working with a dedicated, professional and highly motivated team the CEO’s role will be to inspire and lead, ensuring the sustainability of the existing charity footprint, and delivering the expansion strategy. This is an exciting time to join a thriving, growing, commercially minded charity and a rare opportunity for someone to lead a significant programme of work in its early stages of development.

The CEO is responsible for the leadership, the overall strategic direction of the Charity, working with the Chair and Board, and the delivery of all its activities to ensure it meets the needs of the children and families it exists for in the most effective way for the future.

The role is full time, but we will consider flexible time and working arrangements. Closing date is 2 January 2022..
