Job Description

Lay member needed for BABCP Practitioner Accreditation Committee

BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the UK and Ireland. BABCP is seeking representation from lay members of the public to join the Practitioner Accreditation Committee. No experience of CBT is needed to apply for the Lay Member position.

The Practitioner Accreditation Committee is responsible for overseeing decisions and processes relating to individual CBT therapist accreditation. It meets monthly via remote video or audio call and in normal circumstances meets twice yearly in person (usually in London).

The purpose of the lay member role is:

  • To support BABCP’s Practitioner Accreditation Committee from a lay perspective
  • To help ensure continued accountability and credibility of BABCP membership whilst building trust between the public and the wider cognitive behavioural therapy profession.

This is a rewarding and challenging opportunity to be involved in processes related to accreditation of CBT therapists and maintenance of therapy standards.

All applicants must have a commitment to improving patient experience and ensuring high standards for provision of cognitive behavioural therapy in the UK and Ireland.

This is a voluntary, unremunerated post, although all reasonable travel and subsistence expenses for meetings will be paid. The post holder will not have a contract of employment with BABCP.

We welcome and encourage applications from all suitably qualified people. BABCP are an equal opportunities employer.

The closing date for applications will be 31st January 2021. BABCP reserve the right to close the applications early if needed

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
