Skills Development Manager
attitude is everything

Job Description

Attitude is Everything is excited to offer this opportunity to join our growing team in a key position within our new volunteering and skills development programme. The new ‘Beyond the Music’ programme has been made possible by funding from The National Lottery Community Fund – Reaching Communities.

The project aims to tackle the barriers Deaf and disabled people face to volunteering and working in the music industry, both by providing advice, guidance and training for music industry organisations around how to create an accessible workplace culture and by supporting Deaf and disabled people working or aspiring to work in the industry via the creation of a Professionals Network and by brokering training, mentoring, shadowing and skills development opportunities.

The Skills Development Manager will lead on our work with Deaf and disabled people aspiring to work in music by helping them to access training, advice and guidance and brokering placements with music industry partners.  We want to support people who are seeking to work in DIY roles as promoters, managers etc. as well as people who want to work in larger organisations and we are looking for someone with a wide understanding of the music industry, a track record of supporting people to develop their skills and a passion for making music accessible for everyone.

A huge part of the ethos of the project is ensuring that it is shaped through collaboration with Deaf and disabled people and this will involve creating surveys, focus groups and devising ways to collect feedback. The plan is for the successful candidate to lead volunteer teams at two music festivals each year and take on some line management responsibilities, including recruiting and managing a Festival Volunteer Intern each summer.

We actively encourage applications from Deaf and disabled people and those with access requirements. Assistance will be offered to those who wish to apply to the Access to Work scheme so that any access requirements can be met.
