Project Coordinator
alzheimer's research uk

Job Description

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity dedicated to diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. We believe that medical research can and will deliver life-changing preventions, treatments and one day, a cure for dementia. Alzheimer’s Research UK exists to make this happen and with your support, we’ll make life-changing breakthroughs possible.

Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Early Detection of Neurodegenerative Diseases (EDoN) initiative research initiative is a growing and exciting collaboration bringing together experts in data science, digital technology and neurodegeneration from over 35 universities, institutes, research projects, patient cohorts and technology companies from across Europe and the US. The aim of EDoN is to develop a digital toolkit to detect diseases like Alzheimer’s years before symptoms show.

We’re looking for a Research Programme Coordinator to join the Research Informatics team at Alzheimer’s Research UK to help coordinate the day-to-day running of the EDoN initiative and help set up the programme to achieve its ambitious goals.

The postholder will have skills in progress reporting, risk management, internal communications and managing budgets and contracts, and a keen interest in working at the cutting edge of dementia research and digital technology.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Work with the Research Informatics Project Manager and EDoN partners to oversee the delivery of annual plans and reports, monitoring the progress of the initiative against agreed milestones.
  • Support the Research Informatics Project Manager in the management of the EDoN budget, including processing invoices and overseeing budgeting reforecasts.
  • Support the drafting and agreement of contracts with stakeholders around key areas of work and positions within EDoN.
  • Managing risks and identifying gaps or opportunities, working collaboratively to identify solutions to help EDoN partners achieve their objectives.
  • Implement a clear document management strategy and work in partnership to develop policies that enable EDoN partners to work efficiently.
  • Ensure clear internal communications across EDoN, including onboarding new members, curating mailing lists, and coordinating regular updates across EDoN and to the EDoN Board and Advisory Board.
  • Coordinate key EDoN activities including organising events, meetings and other activities that benefit the whole initiative.
  • Represent the Research Informatics team externally, supporting the team to maintain excellent working relationships with external partners and collaborators.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties and projects delegated by the Research Informatics Project Manager in line with the responsibilities of the post.
