Job Description

About Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind

We’re Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind, part of Mind the mental health charity. We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

We work in Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow and have a range of services and products to help children, young people and adults maintain and regain their mental health. We work with employers, partners, community groups and other charities to achieve our aims.

Trustees of Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind

We’re looking for trustees with clinical experience to join our board. Trustees are our most senior leaders. They set our strategic direction, make sure we’re using our resources effectively and ensure we’re having the greatest possible impact on our community.

Our Trustees gain the satisfaction of making a real difference to the lives of those experiencing mental health problems in our community. You will also be joining a very upbeat and optimistic, group of Trustees, Staff and Volunteers committed to make our mission a reality and lead us closer towards our ultimate ambition: a society where everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.

What is the role of the Clinical Trustee?

The Clinical position is a Trustee with a specific role on the Board. The Trustee is appointed to this role and supports the Board in carrying out their responsibilities of overseeing HFEH Mind’s Services to the highest quality and safety standards by:

  • Understanding and presenting clinical reports to the Board in a format that helps the Board Trustees understand the charity’s clinical position and key areas requiring Board focus.
  • Advising the Board around its clinical contracted and regulated responsibilities
  • Participating actively in the Clinical & Risk subcommittee and overseeing the preparation and scrutiny of safeguarding and clinical reports and findings
  • Building a close working relationship with HFEH Mind Operational team and services through regular discussions, workshops and visits where relevant
  •  Meeting with operational managers as required, supporting the development of reports, providing feedback and recognition
  • Immersing into HFEH Mind services to meet frontline staff, see our services in action and the impact we have on the communities we support.

Time Commitment

The trustee role is voluntary with expenses paid, a commitment of approximately 4-8 hours per month. 4 board meetings and 4 Clinical & Risk subcommittee meetings per year take place - currently virtually via videoconference.

Applications

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, must agree to have a DBS check (having a conviction does not automatically mean you cannot be considered to be a Trustee), and must not be disqualified from acting as a Trustee.

The trustee role is a voluntary one, however all reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred on charity business will be reimbursed in line with our volunteer expenses policy.
