Chair of the Board
leicester dance theatre ltd. trading as aakash odedra company

Job Description

Leicester Dance Theatre Ltd (LDT) trading as Aakash Odedra Company is looking for a Chair of the Board. Our new Chair will have leadership experience and be passionate about the performing arts. LDT is an organisation firmly rooted in its local community but with an international reputation for creating and commissioning boundary-pushing and award-winning dance works using the British-Asian experience.

As the new Chair of LDT, you will have:

  • A passion for dance and Leicester
  • The experience and commitment to lead the Board as we refine and develop the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Experience building relationships with multiple stakeholders whilst articulating our values, relevance, maintaining and promoting our reputation

In leading our Board you will:

  • Ensure that we meet our responsibilities for effective and focused governance
  • Enable the Board to provide professional and constructive challenge
  • Support the Executive and Artistic Directors in the delivery of our organisational goals

You will play an essential part in creating the environment for our organisation to flourish. This will mean that your leadership of the Board both in meetings and otherwise will set the tone of our communication and support our Executive Team in the delivery of our work.

We anticipate the time commitment will be two days per month on average and whilst the role is unpaid, expenses can be claimed. Further details are included in the Candidate Pack.

Board meetings are being held remotely at the moment, but we hope that you will be able to join us for meetings in Leicester in due course.

We believe that diversity in organisations leads to better decision making and want our Board to be representative of the communities we serve. LDT strives to be an inclusive organisation that welcomes Board members from a wide variety of backgrounds. We positively encourage and welcome applications by people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people who identify as D/deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent.

We hope you will consider joining us.

Closing date for applications: 5.00 p.m. Thursday the 9th December 2021
