Volunteer - refugee integration and human rights support
prisoners of conscience

Job Description

Our mission is to protect human rights by transforming the lives of human rights defenders and prisoners of conscience so that they can live safe, free and self-sufficient lives. We do this by providing financial and practical support to refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and to people who continue to suffer persecution in or near their countries of origin.

Having moved away from purely grant-making, we have introduced a holistic package of support which includes signposting to employability, advisory/legal, therapy and technology panels and set up a secure online forum for knowledge sharing to improve the opportunities for successful integration into society.

We are looking for external expertise and assistance to implement the package of support. This will involve personal development plans for each client, to ensure that their opportunities for integration, self-sufficiency and ability to continue their human rights endeavours are enhanced.

The Role and preferred experience:

This is an exciting and transformational opportunity for the right person - the chance to make a deep and lasting difference to the lives of people who have had to flee their countries or go into hiding and begin again to estalish their lives and careers. As the role will involve liaising direct with our clients, a background and expertise in dealing with people, coaching or human resources would be beneficial. We aim to keep in contact with each client for at least three years from the time of first support and a medium/long term commitment to the role is required.

You will work in a supportive, transparent and nurturing team, reflecting the values of our clients - courage, integrity, empowerment, effectiveness and ambition.
