Job Description

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity dedicated to diagnosis prevention, treatment and cure. In order to continue the momentum we’ve seen in recent years we know that engagement with our passionate scientists and supporters is key. With this in mind, we are looking for a talented, hands-on Events Manager to lead our established team of events experts. You will be adept at managing a busy calendar, have a wide variety of experience with different events formats and enjoy working with stakeholders at all levels.

This role and the Events team sit within the wider Insight & Development team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK).  The purpose of the team is to maximise ARUK’s fundraised income, by driving collaborative, efficient and sustainable fundraising to the benefit of our supporters.  This team is fundamental to the delivery of ARUK’s Strategic Goals and its multidisciplinary members offer a wide variety of peer support and knowledge.

As the organisation has grown over the past 5 years, so has the range and type of events and the last year has prompted a further shift to online digital delivery, or hybrid to maximise potential audience engagement. The Manager and wider Events team are also responsible for the planning and delivery of the organisations Research Conference, which brings together researchers from all over the world to share knowledge and connections to further our cause.

The role is fast paced and no two days are the same providing the opportunity for someone to stretch their existing skillset, or for an established Events professional to experience a different setting.

Main tasks of role:

  • Lead a team which is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive events programme for our supporters; this involves traditional dinners, after party events, conferences and everything in between.
  • Manage the overall events calendar, considering budget and resource planning at an early stage
  • Work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Insight and Development team feeding into team plans and offering viewpoints on team challenges.

Location: Granta Park, near Cambridge.

Salary: Circa £42,000 per annum, plus benefits
