VCS Support Manager
community southwark

Job Description

Community Southwark is the infrastructure organisation for the Voluntary and Community Sector in Southwark.

We aim to bring about positive change for people living in Southwark by championing, supporting and working with the wonderful and diverse organisations and individuals that make up the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in Southwark.

We are now looking to recruit for a newly created VCS Support Manager post. The postholder will be funded by the London Borough of Southwark as part of its contract with us for the provision of Council for Voluntary Services (CVS). They will manage a VCS Support Officer, a Policy and Participation Officer funded via the same contract, as well as between 2 and 4 other officers funded from different sources (currently this includes the VCS Support Officer (ethnic minority groups) and the Evaluation and Impact Support Officer). They will be actively working on securing funding for additional officers’ posts so that we can support our member organisations even more effectively with their capacity and capability building.

You will be an experienced and hands-on manager, ideally with experience of working in small charities, who thrives on supporting their staff and making a difference to the local communities by helping organisations rather than individuals. You will have many opportunities to demonstrate your can-do attitude as well as the ability to get things done but you need to be a strong team player who effectively facilitates the success of your team members and the wider organisation.

We particularly encourage applications from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates and people from the LGBTQ+ community.

Currently, all staff are required to work in the office 1-2 days a week. The hybrid way of working is likely to continue in the future. We also offer 5% employer's pension contribution and 2 volunteering days per year amongst our staff benefits.

The post is currently being funded until 31st March 2023 but there is a string possibility of this being extended for another 4-5 years, subject to funding.
