Job Description

Bring your fundraising experience to Blue Apple, an ambitious and expanding charity delivering progressive opportunities within the arts for people with learning disabilities.  Apply your skills to lead on grant funding applications, individual giving and corporate giving, and other income development.

Blue Apple Theatre invite applications for the role of Development Lead (Part Time).The Development Lead is a significant new role with scope for growth.  The majority of the role will be delivered remotely.

It is envisaged that the role will be on a 0.6 FTE basis (22.5 hours per week from a 37.5-hour standard week).  The post holder will be able to work flexible hours, while recognising the needs of the charity. There is great scope for the role to be done remotely (the staff team has been working remote from our office base at University of Winchester since March 2020) but there will certainly need to be face-to-face contact at the outset.

Given the size of the charity, the role of the Development Lead is very much ‘hands-on’ and most practical tasks will be the responsibility of the post-holder, although some delegation and the development of supporting resources is expected.

The post-holder will also work with the Communications Manager to highlight Blue Apple’s impact and vision in communications with key stakeholders and potential supporters, and with the Finance and Resources Manager and key trustees in building the development programme.

The role is offered as a fixed-term employment contract for 12 months initially with the potential to extend in future years depending on funds raised. The contract could also potentially be offered on a freelance basis if preferred.

Key working relationships:

  • Communications Manager

  • Finance and Resources Manager

  • Board Fundraising group

Principal roles

The principal roles as Development Lead will be to:

  • Increase income for the charity from new grants and increased donations;

  • Produce targeted, well-written and persuasive cases for support;

  • Identify and research potential new fundraising opportunities;

  • Produce evaluation reports for funders and stakeholders.

Application deadline 9am on Monday 27 September.  Shortlisting will be completed by 29 September. Interviews will be potentially held by zoom on the morning of Mon 4 October.
