Job Description

1st Place is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Communications & Marketing Manager to join its friendly and hardworking team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous marketing/comms experience who is looking for a new challenge and flexible working conditions.

Working for a Children and Family centre in the heart of Southwark you will be leading the communications and marketing strategy for this busy community focussed organisation. 

We need someone with enthusiasm and energy to help us to support the continued development of projects and resources enabling families in North Southwark reach their full potential. You will work in partnership with the Director and Fundraising Manager to support the activities and objectives of1st Place.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, pay close attention to detail at all times and be highly skilled at communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, in person and in writing. They need the ability to think strategically, come up with practical solutions and to juggle a varied workload. A passion for achieving 1st Place’s key objective – ‘Enabling Children to Achieve Their Potential’ – is essential.

Our aim is to give local parents and children the greatest possible chances in life.  We are an ‘Outstanding’ Children and Parent’s centre, created to serve the needs of every local parent and child under five. We provide everything from ESOL courses, benefits advice and health services, outstanding nursery education, free family activities and parenting support.  As we are a charity, founded to support the local community, any surplus funds are invested in the improvement of families’ lives.

 We currently have 3 nursery settings in Southwark and provide family support across three Children & Family Centre sites.

Our nurseries offer 50 full time places, alongside 32 part time places for children accessing the 15 hour government scheme.  All our nurseries are based at the heart of the local community.  The dedicated staff team have worked hard to ensure the best possible care is given to the children whilst working alongside parents and other professionals.

This post will be based at home 2 days per week and office based 1 day a week
