Trustee
fnd action

Job Description

Are you passionate about wanting to make a difference to people in the UK who face adversities because of their health and social care needs? If so, then we think you will be interested in knowing more about us.

Who are we?

FND Action’s journey started in 2016, when we became the first registered charity in the UK to support people diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). You may not have heard of FND before, but it is an extremely common diagnosis in Neurology that affects thousands of people in the UK.

Common as it is, lack of understanding has led to many people being poorly treated and dismissed. In recent years there has been a growing interest among some of the country’s leading Neurologists to resolve this, and FND Action have played a big part in raising awareness and supporting those diagnosed.

Our informative website can give you more of an insight into what FND is and the current activities of the charity. We are a small charity but with big plans!

What type of people do we think are needed to fulfil a Trustee role?

We are looking for people to join our Board to come on this existing journey with us as we build on our national presence. We already have a large number of members on our online support groups, and spend a considerable amount of our time advocating as a voice for those with FND. With your help we can plan to do much more, expand our outreach, and continue to make a huge difference to the lives of people living with FND.

Do you have the credentials and passion to be involved with this exciting opportunity?

The most important criteria is a passion to see more people with FND helped and supported. In particular, we ask also that you:

  • Have an understanding of FND and/or understanding of disabilities and social care in general.
  • Be able to show commitment and energy to make a direct difference to the charity and to those it helps.
  • Have skills, knowledge, or experience to help the Board make good decisions.
  • Be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to your duties as a Trustee.
  • Have a strategic vision and be able to make good, independent judgement.
  • Have the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Be able to show integrity at all times.

If this is an opportunity that you may be interested in, and reside anywhere in the UK, then we would love to hear from you.
