Content and Storytelling Officer
peace direct

Job Description

Peace Direct is an international charity with a big mission: to work with local people to stop violence and build sustainable peace in some of the world's most conflict affected countries. More than that, we want to change the international system so that it better supports the role that local people and communities play in preventing violence and building and sustaining peace.

For this new role, we’re looking for someone with bundles of creative flair and imagination to help us unearth, develop and publish a wide range of impactful, multimedia content, to tell the story of local peacebuilders.

We have ambitious plans to raise our profile and engage even more supporters in the next 12 months - so you’re joining us at an exciting time!

You will be part of a supportive and experienced communications and fundraising team. The right person will understand the basics of project planning, content creation, design, creative writing and editing. You should be comfortable working with internal and external colleagues as well as supporting local groups around the world to develop their own content.

You’ll be a positive person, able to communicate and articulate clearly to multiple audiences. You relish every challenge, every creative opportunity, everyday. You’ll help us to inspire, deliver and collaborate and be a positive force, who will put skin in the game and want to produce the best work possible.

Finally, we are looking for someone with a genuine passion for our mission to support local efforts to build peace.

While the post is based in our London office, we have closed our office due to Covid and do not expect to reopen it fully until September 2021. Therefore the successful candidate will be expected to work from home initially. Please note that this is a fixed term contract, for 12 months.

Peace Direct strives to be a diverse and inclusive employer, with equality of opportunities regardless of personal identity, and we are committed to improving our systems and ways of working to support this, including creating a Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) working group, DEI strategy and recruitment guidelines. We strongly encourage individuals from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to apply, including Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), LGBTQ+, people with disabilities and people with mental health challenges.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 11th July. Only completed applications will be accepted (no CVs please) and only applicants with the right to work in the UK will be considered (we do not yet hold a Home Office visa sponsor license and so cannot accept applications from people who don't already have the right to work in the UK. The application form and Job Description are available on Peace Direct’s website.
