Job Description

The Diversion Programme is a pilot programme funded by MOPAC (Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime) and delivered in partnership with Advance, WiP (Women in Prison), and Pecan. As Hibiscus’ Diversion project worker you will work closely with multi-agencies including the police, voluntary and community sector providers, and other statutory partners to divert low-risk women from the formal criminal justice process, motivating them to engage in positive community activity to allow them to lead safer crime-free lives. You will work holistically with migrant women referred into the pilot, providing language support and information to enable them to understand their current immigration status and how to comply with out-of-court disposals; and assist partner organisations and the police to ensure migrant women can have equal access to diversion options.

The Pan-London Wraparound service, co-commissioned by MOPAC and the Ministry of Justice, provides a whole system approach to women and girls affected by the Criminal Justice System, at high risk of offending or of re-offending, and with complex multiple needs (such as mental ill health, substance misuse, and gender based violence). You will work closely with lead partners Advance and the South London Women’s Hubs led by Women in Prison (WiP) to accept referrals and manage a case load of migrant women (including survivors of trafficking). Working holistically with the women you will provide a fully tailored service, offering consistent long-term practical and emotional support and advocacy through an empowering, trauma-informed gendered approach supporting long-term recovery.

As an organisation working on racial and gender justice and migrants' rights Hibiscus is particularly keen to attract talent from Black and minoritised communities and those with lived experience of immigration restrictions, the criminal justice systems, or gender-based violence.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
