Are you looking to apply your brand strategy and management skills to help tackle the world’s greatest medical challenge?

We are looking for a driven, innovative and experienced brand professional to lead our multi-disciplinary Dept as Head of Brand. The Head plays a leadership role in the management, development, expression and protection of ARUK’s brand profile. As a rising voluntary sector brand, ARUK has enormous potential to press on to become the UK leader for an issue that resonates enormously with the British public – the Head will seize this opportunity and oversee how we take full advantage.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, Brand & Digital, the Head of Brand will bring experience in brand strategy and brand marketing programmes to the charity. They will understand how brand marketing integrates with other down-funnel forms of marketing and communication, driving consideration and action for our cause. They will have extensive leadership experience, supporting high performing managers, as well as being comfortable working with senior leadership. They will have developed clear visions for brand development and developed strategies and tactical plans to deliver against them.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership of the multi-disciplinary Brand department, line managing four managers encompassing creative development, celebrity engagement and campaigns, brand management and our merchandise team.
  • Manage the annual Brand planning, budgeting and reforecasting process, ensuring that actual expenditure delivers within budgeted targets.
  • Plan and develop a clear articulation of ARUK brand strategy and narrative, ensuring brand marketing integrates effectively with other forms of marketing and communication at the charity.
  • Evaluate, define and implement the Brand strategy and operational plans that support supports the charity’s vision, mission and objectives, working in close harmony with other marketing and fundraising teams.
  • Oversight of the changing marketplace and consumer attitudes, working with our Insight teams.
  • Developing an ongoing cycle of brand review and redevelopment, working with insight and research agencies and other external support organisations as appropriate.
  • Collaboration across the organisation to ensure all teams understand and take advantage of the ARUK brand opportunity. Act as brand sign off, and guardian where necessary.
  • Brand ‘health’ oversight, analysis and reporting.
  • Developing and overseeing key agency relationships, and ensuring coordination of agency remits with other teams.
  • Work with the Director of Comms, Brand & Digital, the Head of Corporate Partnerships and others to identify opportunities for brand partnerships with external organisations, aligning ARUK to partners with compatible values to improve reach and impact.
  • Help create and maintain organisation-wide brand messaging and design guides.
  • High level representation of ARUK at project boards and external working groups as appropriate.
  • Provide strong leadership and support to the Brand Team, through coaching, mentoring and developing individuals to deliver an effective and efficient service across the charity. Carry out performance appraisal meetings and effectively promote team building and collaborative working to deliver the strategic and operational plans.
     

What we are looking for:

  • A strong leader, with experience of supporting and developing high performing managers.
  • A passionate advocate for the importance of organisational brand, and an ability to inspire those around them.
  • An extensive understanding of how different forms of marketing work in combination, and how consumers move down the funnel from first consideration, to action, to lifelong support and loyalty.
  • A collaborative personality, and a relationship builder.
  • Experience of business and strategic planning and budgeting.
  • A keen analytical eye, and a willingness to challenge and improve.
  • Someone with an eye on the future. Alzheimer’s Research UK embraces innovation and is open to new ideas and ways of working.  
  • Experience of working with senior leadership and maintaining high level agency and stakeholder relationships.
  • Willingness and ability to travel independently in the UK and to work outside of regular office hours when needed.
  • A confident and friendly manner; would feel at ease representing the charity to a range of audiences.

Location: Granta Park, near Cambridge.  Agile Working options considered.

Salary: Circa £65,000 per annum, plus benefits
