Job Description

Become a trustee of Caring Together!

Do you want to help make a difference to carers in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk?

Would you like to shape the future of an ambitious regional charity?

Will you use your own experience in health or social care to make sure that all carers have choices?

Three in five of us will become a carer at some point in our life.

As we enter our 40th year we have an exciting opportunity to join our talented board of trustees to help realise our vision of a world in which all carers have choices.

Caring Together is a leading charity supporting carers of all ages across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk. We provide information and advice, run services in our local communities and campaign. We are proud to support more than 12,000 carers and their families every year, but there are an estimated 178,000 carers living in our region. And this number is rising.

We need your help to make sure that even more carers in our local communities receive the practical and emotional support that they need.

About the role

As a member of the board of trustees you will use your skills, experience and knowledge of the health and social care sector to provide strategic direction and constructive challenge to ensure Caring Together delivers its charitable goals and objectives and is managed effectively. You will be an ambassador for Caring Together, supporting our activities to engage carers and to grow our income, and making sure that we place carers at the very heart of how we deliver information, services and campaign.

About you

We are working hard to create a diverse board, bringing together a range of perspectives and experience to strengthen its performance and leadership of the charity. Whether you are an experienced charity trustee or looking for your first board position, if you believe you can share our passion for supporting carers and have the qualities, knowledge and experience we are looking for then we’d love to hear from you.

Our values drive everything that we do – they shape how we work and guide our day-to-day and longer-term decisions. They describe how we want to interact with the people and organisations we work with as well as each other. We are inclusive. We are informed. We are effective. And we’d like you to share these values.

We are particularly keen for you to get in touch if you can bring current experience, expertise and knowledge from either a local authority or NHS perspective. We would welcome applications from clinicians and professionals who can help us improve the support for carers in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk.

In return we offer a comprehensive induction, trustee training to support ongoing professional development, as well as board level experience of working in a charity environment. Most importantly, you will have the satisfaction of making a positive and sustainable difference to carers in your local community as the charity enters the next 40 years and beyond.
