Fundraising Manager
st andrew's club

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Fundraiser to take up the role of Head of Fundraising & Marketing, with a proven track record, wanting to help enrich young lives by raising vital funds for and awareness of St Andrew’s Club in Westminster, the world’s oldest youth club.

About St Andrew’s Club
Established more than 150 years ago, St Andrew’s Club is a registered charity.  Each year we provide a sense of belonging, fun and informal education to around 700 members, many of whom live locally in Westminster, and come from homes on very tight budgets. The Club is in action seven days a week and during school holidays through the day and into the evenings.

The Club is a vital resource for the local community, providing value for money opportunities in a safe, attractive environment.  Members develop educationally, socially and personally through an exciting and wide range of sport, art, excursions and practical skills. We have provided a lifeline to members and their families during the Covid-19 pandemic. As one of five Westminster Youth Hubs - informal club spaces running safe programmes for young people - we emphasise collaboration and innovation and are supported to take on local leadership and forge partnerships to deliver youth-led initiatives that have a lasting impact on provisions for all young people in Westminster.

Job Purpose
The Club seeks a self-motivated, talented, ambitious, professional Head of Fundraising & Marketing to build on the success of the last few years. The Club has developed a diversified portfolio of fundraising programmes to help us in our ambitions to raise vital funds for growth and sustainability of our important youth provision, with a strong focus on support from Trusts and Foundations, for both project and core funding.

You can help shape the funding future of this unique organisation and make your own mark. Plans and preparations are underway for a capital appeal to realise the Club’s ambitious development plans and there are opportunities for the Head of Fundraising & Marketing to grow in responsibility and play their part in moving this forward.

As the principal fundraising resource, you will have a hands-on role, leading a small team and be adept at working under your own initiative with a can do attitude. You will come with a strong track record of cultivating relationships with a wide range of supporters.

Reporting to the Chief Executive to and working closely with the Youth Club Manager and a Fundraising Group of committed Trustees, you will take overall responsibility for and ownership of the Club’s fundraising and communications strategy. You will deliver an annual costed mixed fundraising plan to provide core and project income, meeting the annual target and growing the existing programme.

This is a diverse role, incorporating all elements of the fundraising portfolio, that requires the same energy and ambition of the small leadership team - to grow the membership of, and the funding for, the world’s oldest youth club. You will be joining an organisation committed to delivering outstanding provision for its members, and a staff team committed to enriching young lives. Our commitment to training and support will help optimise your own development.

Your passion and commitment to the cause will be critical to your success in the role, as will your ability to articulate with great confidence, the huge impact that St Andrew’s Club has on those that it serves. Effective stewardship and retention of existing Trusts & Foundations’ support will be key to your early success, as will timely reporting and acquisition of new support from this source.
