Regional Chair (South East) , Voluntary
cpre the countryside charity

Job Description

This post is home-based, applicants should live in the South East of England

We’re looking for someone to lead our South East Regional Group to help us achieve our vision of a beautiful and thriving countryside that is valued, enjoyed and accessible to everyone.

You’ll be part of a team of people passionate about the countryside and you’ll be invited to free training courses, workshops and our annual conference and AGM (as a voting member). You’ll use your skills and experience in networking and collaborating to make a positive difference to the countryside, environment, and local communities.

CPRE is a membership organisation made up of a national charity and a network of 42 local charities across England. Local CPREs meet in eight regional groups to share ideas and experience, facilitate cross-border collaboration, improve communication and promote a coordinated regional voice and focus.

The South East region is formed of eight local CPREs covering Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, and Sussex. The region receives funding from National CPRE of around £10,000 each year.

Regional Chairs lead and support activities and convene and chair regular regional meetings with representatives from local CPREs. It’s a real opportunity to add value to what CPRE does in the South East.

Ideally, you should have at least three years’ experience of working or volunteering in a networking, collaboration, partnership, leadership or organisational development role. It’s also helpful if you have experience of volunteering and supporting other volunteers.

CPREs governance, income and cost sharing arrangements are currently being reviewed with an aim to further strengthen the organisation. Regional Chairs will contribute towards the review so it’s important that you have a flexible attitude and a positive approach to change.

The approximate time commitment for this role involves three regional meetings held in the South East and three national meetings each year. You’ll also typically volunteer from home for around 2-3 hours per week supporting local and regional activities.

We provide out-of-pocket travel expenses and incidentals for home offices.

Salary: Unpaid - Voluntary role, out-of-pocket expenses will be paid
Closing date: Midday, Friday 25 June 2021
