Job Description

Oily Cart aims to create ambitious and high-quality sensory theatre that all babies, children and young people can enjoy.

You would be joining our board at a really exciting time for the organisation as we are about to enter our 40thyear. It’s an opportunity to make a huge difference to the next chapter of Oily Cart.  We are ambitious about the company’s future and are planning a dynamic artistic programme.

If you are over 16 years old and feel that you could make a strong contribution to the development and sustainability of Oily Cart then we would love to hear from you. You don’t need to have a high-flying career. We understand that expertise can come in many forms. We are keen to make our board more representative of the communities we work with, as well as increasing company expertise in the areas outlined below.

The key skills we are currently seeking are:

  • Education: Knowledge of Specialist school curriculums. Experience working in these settings directly with young people. Understanding technologies and best practices used in specialist schools.
  • Disabled Advocacy: Insight and lived experience of the barriers disabled artists and audiences face engaging in cultural activity. Strong political advocacy skills. Good links with disabled-led arts networks. Understanding of best practice in access.
  • Fundraising: Ambassadorial and networking skills. Experience in fundraising through trusts and foundations, corporations and personal donorship programmes.
  • Digitalmarketing and audience development: Connections with digital media companies. Skills in marketing, communication and audience development
