The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues. In April 2019, the Centre opened its new Centre of Excellence located in King’s Cross.

The Senior Programme Manager role will lead on overseeing the evaluation and communications support to the wider Early Years Programme (EYP) clinical team, and manage a small team of three staff members. They will act as a liaison across the organisation; linking the EYP and Centre-wide functions around communication, policy, evaluation and innovation. The post-holder will lead on overseeing two large, high-profile national projects in the EYP: National Centre for Family Hubs; and Early Years in Mind digital learning network for childcare workers. The Senior Programme Manager will oversee a national team of staff, with direct line management of a Programme Manager, a Programme Officer and a Communications and Network Officer. They will act as a liaison across the organisation and support the Deputies and Head of EYP to deliver the overall programme.

We are seeking a resilient, motivated, politically-aware, organised, creative, outward-looking individual, adept in managing projects and developing relationships. A strong interest in developing the family mental health and wellbeing field is essential, as well as experience of working with professionals from a variety of backgrounds, including mental health, education, local authorities and the voluntary sectors.

This role will be home-based/remote during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; thereafter at the Anna Freud Centre, 4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH. Occasional travel will be required predominantly within the London area.

Contract duration

From April 2021 to March 2023.
