Job Description

Social Media Specialist - Part-time

Huriah is a youth-led organisation. Specifically, we are a environmental and social concious fashion brand that specialises in hemp clothing for businesses and consumers. We use sales from our ethical T-shirts to drive our social mission, to assist young people aged 15-25 to seek and invent their own passion and purpose through social action. We believe as an innovative brand bringing change to its industry, we wish to also empower young people with the relevant tools to create their own change. 

We are an inclusive organisation looking to welcome people of all abilities. We champion young people to be involved through our process and innovate from the inside out. You will be a part of a small team where your voice will be heard and be impactful. All relevant training and onbaording to systems will be provided.

The Role

Report to: Project Director & Social Media Manager 

Days and hours: Working hours will be flexible as the turnaround for work is fast paced. Relevant tasks will be set weekly to meet deadlines. Weekly working hours should not exceed 10 hours. 

Duration: 6 months 

Start: ASAP

Role Outline:

The role will involve, but not be limited to, maximising our reach and community engagement through producing quality ad copies and content to be used on social media platforms. Onboarding to systems and relevant training in some aspects will be provided.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistency of branding across social content and platforms – Example, utilising correct colour palettes, fonts and themes.
  • Analyse audiences and customer profiles 
  • Meeting weekly/monthly deadlines while still ensuring quality
  • Efficiently research factual material for content
  • Effective time management, being responsible for your own time and accountable for your output. 

Additional Elements: 

  • Being creative and enthusiastic 
  • Competitor analysis 
  • Promote our community work through your own social platforms by sharing opportunities and speaking honestly about the organisation as well as your experiences
  • To analyse or be on the lookout for potential emerging marketing trends
  • Seeking potential brand ambassadors 
  • Assisting with evaluations and short reports focused on elements such as, growth metrics and ROI. 

Skills and traits

Essential:

  • Proficient in content creation software such as Canva
  • Certifications or studied a relevant subject
  • Punctual and can manage deadlines for tasks 
  • Proactive 
  • Team work is on of your core strengths 

Desired: 

  • Knows how to use Adobe Photoshop
  • Has had previous social media related experience
  • Team based work experience 
  • Any form of project management
