Job Description

Peace Direct is an international charity with a big mission: to work with local people to stop violence and build sustainable peace in some of the world's most conflict affected countries. More than that, we want to change the international system so that it better supports the role that local people and communities play in preventing violence and building and sustaining peace.

We are looking to recruit a part time Human Resources Manager for an initial 12 month contract to join our busy team. This is a new role, as we have traditionally outsourced all of our HR support needs, but believe it is time to bring the expertise in-house and provide more support to our staff. It's not an easy time to be working for a charity, with the whole sector facing declining incomes and yet there is more need for our work than ever before. This is why we need to provide more support to our staff at this difficult time, as well as strengthen existing HR policies and processes.

We are looking for an experienced HR professional with at least five years experience in developing HR policies and processes who wishes to work part time for up to 21 hours per week. You will have a CIPD qualification and will have a strong background in all aspects of HR. You will have excellent communication skills, be a good listener, be able to handle multiple priorities and above all be adaptable, responsive and supportive to colleagues, including the Senior Management Team.

While the post is based in our London office, we have closed our office due to Covid and do not expect to reopen it until March 2021. Therefore the successful candidate will be expected to work from home for the first few months of the year at least.
