Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Volunteer Management

  • Operational responsibility for the ongoing support and development of Cancer Coach volunteers including maintenance of accurate volunteer records
  • Responsibility for all admin support for the Cancer Coach service including answering emails, sending out correspondence and information to volunteers and participants and coordinating the circulation of promotional materials
  • Daily supervision of volunteers across the U.K including monitoring and overseeing wellbeing and safeguarding measures
  • Work with the Cancer Coach Manager to contribute to an effective and efficient volunteer training program, organising the regular schedule of volunteer training sessions across the UK.
  • To oversee the on boarding of Cancer Coach volunteers across all regions, ensuring all relevant checks, paperwork and processes are adhered to.
  • To work with the Cancer Coach Manager on annual evaluation of the volunteer program, collating and co-ordinating feedback from volunteers and collected data

2. Service delivery

  • Responsibility for the operational requirements within the Cancer Coach service, responding quickly and efficiently to participant enquiries, ensuring all paperwork, data collection and safeguarding measures are adhered to and records are kept accurate and up to date
  • Manage the logistics of the group schedules, ensuring each group has a volunteer assigned to facilitate and enough participants, managing the dissemination of paperwork and information to both volunteer and participant, ensuring annual targets are met.
  • Support the Cancer Coach Manager on periodic evaluation of Cancer Coach service, collating and co-ordination data and feedback and assisting in the creation of evaluation reports.
  • Assist with the implementation of quality standards and ensure high quality customer care across all aspects of the service.
  • Supporting the wider CSUK team with admin duties as and when required

3. Other duties and responsibilities

  • Carrying out other such reasonable duties as may be required.

  4.     Location

  • The role is based at the Cancer Support UK head office in London. Travel across the UK may be required.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria: (to be assessed at application form and interview stages)

Qualification

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Maths and English pass at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence
  • I0T Literacy including strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 systems including Word, email, Excel, CRM, PowerPoint

Knowledge and Experience

  • Excellent administration and organisational skills and experience
  • Experience of supporting the coordination, administration and delivery of community based volunteer led services
  • Experience of working with volunteers in the delivery of services to vulnerable people
  • Experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers in a community, charity or social care setting
  • Experience of managing the co-ordination, logistics and scheduling of groups and services
  • Experience of working with and supporting vulnerable people within the community
  • Experience of establishing, maintaining and monitoring management information systems and evaluating services

Desirable Criteria: (to be assessed at application form and interview stages)

  • Experience of working with and supporting people living with cancer or other long term conditions
  • Experience of working within the statutory NHS/Social Care or voluntary sector

The post is offered initially as a 12 month fixed term contract - with the possibility of extension.
