Job Description

Award-winning refugee charity, Breaking Barriers, is looking for new trustees to refresh and augment the board at a pivotal time in its development. 

Founded in 2015, we are a fast-paced, start-up charity with a mission to help refugees in the UK secure stable and fulfilling employment in their new home.

We have a unique approach, working with corporate partners to help our clients develop careers that match their skills, experience and aspirations.

Since our inception just five years ago, we have grown to support in excess of 500 refugees and people from refugee background per year in London.  We now have ambitious plans to expand our services and support even more.

We are seeking several trustees including a deputy chair who will take over from the current chair in late 2021.

We are looking for people with one or more of the following:

• Programme design and delivery
• Experience in employment/employability in the private or not for profit sectors
• Governance experience in larger charities
• A finance expert - preferably with charity accounting experience - to take over from our retiring Treasurer in 2021
• Contacts in national and regional government
• Ability to make introductions to potential corporate partners or donors
• Communications expertise
